7th – Whole Bloomin’ Thing Festival – Frog Level, Waynesville
The Whole Bloomin Thing Festival is held in Waynesville's Historic Frog level and features local growers, nature-related artists and crafters, health and wellness professionals and alternative energy and eco-friendly vendors. Open to local growers and nature- or garden-related art & craft items, health and wellness professionals and alternative energy and eco-friendly vendors.  Also, food vendors.

7thThe 22nd Annual Great Smoky Mountain Trout & Heritage Festival – Maggie Valley Festival Grounds
The Trout Festival is alcohol free.  Mountain music and everything trout!  Educational tent, fly-fishing demos, kids’ activities, music, craft vendors, "Trout Race" and more! Famous fried trout dinners too!  Wholesome fun for the entire family.

7thAsheville Symphony: Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3 – Asheville Civic Center
We are honored to invite Konstantin Soukhovetski back to the Thomas Wolfe stage for a triumphant return, this time with one of the most impressive and difficult concertos in the repertoire. Made famous in the movie Shine, Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto is the epitome of all that we love about Russian music: great melodies, overwhelming keyboard virtuosity, and dazzling climaxes that tear the roof off the house.

14thBranson on the Road – Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts, Franklin
BRANSON ON THE ROAD is the kind of show you thought was long gone in this day of overproduced music, overused special effects and performers singing to tracks. In the same tradition as the traveling road shows during the glory days of the Grand Ole Opry, the Louisiana Hayride and the first Branson music shows, the award-winning Branson On The Road keeps you tapping, laughing and smiling. Young and old cheer for more at the end of each performance. You'll leave with a smile on your face and humming a tune under your breath.

Murderers become celebrities, celebrities get away with murder, and money-hungry lawyers play the press for fools. It sounds like today, but we’ve got nothing on 1920s Chicago.

Fun, food, music & games; overnight team event to raise money in the fight against cancer.

21st The Osmond Brothers – Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts, Franklin
The Osmonds perform all styles of music from barbershop, pop, rock, country, and jazz! Their close harmonies cannot be matched by any other group. They have sold millions of albums and have several gold and platinum records to their credit. They have broken records for sell out performances once held by the Beatles and Elvis, and won numerous awards including the People's Choice Award, and Best Vocal Group and Best Show in Branson Missouri. They have a huge loyal fanbase from all over the world who have followed the Osmonds from the very beginning!

28thMain Street Block Party – Downtown Waynesville
Downtown is Alive at Night, dancing in the street with live bands, children’s area, eats & treats, restaurants open, music begins at 7pm, a portion of Main Street is closed.

28th – 29thThe 7th Annual Vettes in the Valley – Maggie Valley Festival Grounds
Celebrate a great American Classic. Over 400 Corvettes attend for Judged, People’s Choice Car Show, Road Rally, Vendors, Entertainment, Silent Auction and Door Prizes; Specialty Trophies and Friday night "Meet & Greet" for registered participants; NCCC Non-points Sanctioned event.

3rd – 4thOl’ Smoky Tractor Club Spring Farm Fest – Maggie Valley Festival Grounds
Educational Antique Tractor and Engine Show with parts vendors; flea market with crafts; tractor rides for kids throughout the day.  A parade of 30 tractors drive through the town of Maggie Valley on Friday and Saturday. Concession food provided by the Ole Smoky Tractor Club.  Free Admission.

4thAsheville Lyric Opera presents Taste of Opera – Diana Wortham Theatre, Asheville
Asheville Lyric Opera's 3rd Annual Taste of Opera, features a night of incredible food from Asheville's most delicious restaurants and music performed by Asheville's biggest stars.

5thJazz Series 2011: The Tierney Sutton Band – Diana Wortham Theatre, Asheville
In 2009 vocalist Tierney Sutton and Band received their third Grammy Nomination for Best Vocal Jazz Album for the acclaimed recording, Desire. This nomination is the latest honor to come from a 17-year collaboration that garnered a JazzWeek Award for Vocalist of the year, consecutive nominations for Jazz Journalist Association Awards, multiple top-rated recordings on jazz radio, and critical praise throughout the world.

10th“The Return” Beatles Tribute – Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts, Franklin
The Return, recognized as one of the premier Beatles tribute bands in America, currently contains the youngest lineup of superb musicians paying tribute to the legendary group. They are considered by many critics to be the most realistic cast paying tribute to the "Fab Four." Every detail from The Beatles' early live performance years has been studied and carefully recreated. From the mop-top haircuts and English tailored suits, to the actual instruments and stage equipment, The Return's authenticity gives new audiences and many older fans a performance unlike any they have ever witnessed.

11thAppalachian Lifestyle Celebration – Downtown Waynesville
Protecting and preserving mountain history through a heritage themed festival.  A full day celebration of traditional mountain craft, food, and entertainment.  Demonstrations of Appalachian life skills & crafts, storytelling, mountain music & clogging, home-style food vendors.

11th – 12thThe Lone Ranger – Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, Bryson City
America’s favorite legend brings law and order to the mountains of western North Carolina at the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad this June. During the ride, The Lone Ranger and his faithful companion Tonto will save the train from outlaws who intend to rob the baggage car that is carrying a shipment of gold! There will be an array of cowboy and western activities at the depot for people of all ages.

23rd – 26th Guys and Dolls – Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts, Franklin
As the curtain rises on this classic salute to Broadway in Frank Loesser's musical take on gambles, night club singers and missionaries in 1940's New York, there is no doubt the audience is in for a hilarious ride. Full of some of the most colorful characters ever written for the stage, Guys and Dolls celebrates musical theatre comedy at its best. A full two-act production.

4thStars & Stripes Celebration – Downtown Waynesville

Join over 100 craftsmen for this long running event which boasts crafters and artisans from all over the United States.  Juried craftsmen supply wares from the most affordable handicrafts to more expensive museum quality items.  Chainsaw Artist demonstrations and a variety of foods are also on site.  Free Parking and Free Admission.

15th“Take Me Home:” the Music of John Denver starring Jim Curry – Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts, Franklin
Jim Curry began his music career writing and performing the opening song, "The Time of Your Life" for his senior play. The song was then voted to be the 1975 class song and Jim was awarded a Rotary Scholarship to study music in college. Even at this early stage in his life Jim's natural voice resembled that of singer/songwriter John Denver. Embracing the similarities, Jim continued to sing and specialize in the songs of John Denver, sharing John's positive messages of love, humanity and environmental awareness.

20th – August 14th Hairspray – Flat Rock Playhouse, Flat Rock
Take a trip to the 60s and fall in love with Tracy Turnblad, a rotund teen, obsessed with dancing and determined to stand up for her beliefs. Piled bouffant-high with laughter and romance.

Bele Chere means "beautiful living" and comes from an ancient Scottish dialect. It is an annual street festival with a wide variety of arts, music, food, beverages, events, and children’s activities that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

Take your passion for cycling to a new level during the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce's 2nd Annual Blue Ridge Breakaway. The ride features 4 routes throughout Haywood County with one traveling 32 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  There will be something for everyone!

26thThe Boxcars/Balsam Range: An Evening of Great Bluegrass – Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts, Franklin
The Boxcars bring together some of the finest musicians, singers and writers to form a powerhouse band.
Balsam Range - From deep in the Appalachians where the Great Smoky Mountains meet the Blue Ridge comes the Balsam Range band, creatively blending Bluegrass, Folk, Gospel and Jazz into a new American acoustic music experience.

27thMaggie Valley Moonlight Race sponsored by Mission Health System – Maggie Valley Festival Grounds
Registration will occur Friday, August 26, 2011 from 4pm to 6pm.  The event is an 8K road race that begins at 8:30pm on Saturday, August 27, 2011.  The race will start and finish at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds.  All pre and post race activities will take place inside the Festival Grounds.

After spending the majority of the past decade as a successful pop and adult contemporary artist, Josh Kelley returns to the Southern sound he's loved since childhood with his upcoming MCA Nashville country release. While it may be his official debut into the country genre, Josh's previous hits, have always contained discernible country flair.

7th – 30thPeanuts: The Great Pumpkin Patch Express – Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, Bryson City
Upon arrival, passengers will be greeted and have a photo opportunity with Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Snoopy. Activities to enjoy at The Great Pumpkin Patch will include: campfire marshmallows, a coloring station, temporary tattoos, trick or treating, bouncy house, hayrides and live musical entertainment. And kids, don’t forget to wear your Halloween costumes!

14th – 15thThe 5th Annual Mountain Music Jamboree – Eaglenest Entertainment, Maggie Valley
Two-day indoor musical celebration of our rich mountain heritage.

14th – 16th The 3rd Annual ‘Vairs in the Valley – Smoky Falls Lodge, Maggie Valley
3rd Annual Corvair Car/Truck Show featuring all models and years (1960 - 1969) of one of the most unique vehicles ever built by Chevrolet.  This show is sponsored by North Carolina Mountain Corvair Club and the North Carolina Chapter of the Corvair Society of America (CORSA).  Friday night 50th Birthday celebration for the 1962 Convertible, Monza Spyder and Fitch Sprint.  Saturday People's Choice Car show, Corvair Valve Cover Races, Corvair Games and Door prize drawings.  Open to the public.  50/50 Raffle Tickets (winner will be drawn at the awards ceremony on Saturday evening, registration is required).  Sunday morning's Scenic Drive on the Parkway is a parade of Corvairs.

The second juried craft show of the year is a long running favorite of the leaf peepers.   Crafters from all over the southeast gather at the Maggie Valley festival grounds to show off their unique wares.  Always a great selection of seasonal items, yard art, jewelry, paintings, and much more. Chainsaw art demonstrations and a variety of food also on site. Free Parking and Free admission.

3rd – 6thWizard of Oz - Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts, Franklin
The classic MGM film is brought to life on stage complete with Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and Toto too! Including "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" and "If I Were the King of the Forest", the Oscar winning score will have the audience singing dancing and clicking their heels all the way home. A full two-act production.

3rd – 20thDoubt – Flat Rock Playhouse, Flat Rock
A deeply principled nun suspects a popular priest of improper conduct. Her allegations could destroy lives. This Pulitzer Prize-winning play is a perfect show for lovers of powerful drama. The second act begins when you leave the theatre and examine your own doubts.

30th – December 22nd Plaid Tidings – Flat Rock Playhouse, Flat Rock
The four lads from Forever Plaid drop in from heaven to perform their Christmas special. It’s full of the Plaid’s trademark arrangements that seamlessly flow from Christmas standards to pop songs.

The parade will run through Maggie Valley starting at the Ghost Town parking lot, ending at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds. Starts at 6pm.

5th – Waynesville Christmas Parade – Downtown Waynesville
