MANAGER’S MESSAGE
The kids are back in school, leaves will begin turning soon and we have had much cooler weather! It seems like just yesterday the summer began and now we are looking forward to the fall season. October is one of our busiest months, and we look forward to seeing some of our owners and members again!Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner and it’s not too early to start thinking about booking your holiday parties at Maggie Valley Club! Don’t forget - Maggie Valley Club property owners receive free facility rentals (setup fees apply)! Call Danielle Lewis-Brendell at (828) 926-4816 for dates and availability.
Most of you have been getting our weekly or biweekly updates from the Golf Course Superintendent and as you know, this summer was a rough one on our course. I’m happy to say that the course is improving and appreciate the hard work our golf maintenance team has done. We also appreciate the courtesy our members have given while we worked on getting our course in shape.
I am happy to welcome back our Membership Director, Carolyn Plott, who was gone over the summer on maternity leave! A big thank you to Kaye Matthews who filled in for Carolyn over the summer. We wish her all the best! If you have any questions about membership, you can contact Carolyn at (828) 926-4831 or visit her in the office Tuesday through Saturday.
At Maggie Valley Club & Resort, we try to involve ourselves in the local community. We are members of the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce and the Maggie Valley Chamber. We value the relationships we have with our community. Recently, I attended the Maggie Valley Chamber Annual Dinner, and to my surprise, Maggie Valley Club & Resort was awarded the 2009-2010 Business of the Year Award! This prestigious award is voted on by other business owners and Chamber members and we are thrilled to have received it. Thanks to all of the employees and members of the Club; it is truly your award. You are the ones that make this Club the place that it is.

The Prevost Cup TournamentThe Prevost Cup is a two-day eclectic tournament. On each hole, players can improve their scores from day one with a better score on day two. It was a fun format for all.MVWGA Prevost Cup winners: Low Gross: Brenda Fulton, score of 80 Low Net: Five players tied with a low net score of 61. A sudden death playoff decided the ultimate winners: First Place: LaDonna Rollins Second Place: Marilyn Reetz Thanks to everyone who made this tournament possible, and to all the ladies who participated. |

Meet our new Tennis Pro!Csaba (pronounced Chubba) EssoeCsaba is a Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) certified tennis instructor. He played junior tennis in Southern California and played on the UCLA tennis team. He has coached high school tennis teams in Northern California, directed summer tennis programs in Toronto and been the skills coordinator for junior tennis in Saudi Arabia while working for Saudi ARAMCO, in addition to being a private instructor. He has organized Adult Doubles Strategy workshops, a children’s Tennis Fair (ages 6-14) and Munchkin Tennis Weekends (ages 6-9). Join Csaba every Thursday morning at 10am at the courts to learn some new skills and play a game! |
